This is the Second Volume of the Manual showing powers and functions of Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners under various Central and Provincial Laws (excluding those incorporated in Volume I). As in the case of Volume I, Volume II has also been separated in two parts. Part I contains the particulars of powers and functions of Commissioners while Part II contains details of powers and functions of District Magistrates/Deputy Commissioners) Collectors. Copies of Volume II will also be stocked at the Government Book Depots at Lahore and Karachi, for sale to the genera] public. The relevant extracts have been taken from various sources and checked with Reference Books available in the Law Department. Das In 1854 “ Record Rules” were framed. In 1866 "Record Rules” first appeared in the Board’s Rules and then in Volume I of the Board’s Rules, 1878 Act III of 1879 regulating the destruction of records was replaced in 1917 by Act V of that year. In 18SS c. Records Manual,was separately published and this was revised "in 1895, in 1902, in 1911, in 1917 and again in 1923. The present edition is practically a reprint of the manual with correction made since 1928. All correction slips should he entered in their proper place. Errors and omissions in the volume should be brought to the notice of the Board. This manual is to be briefly cited as “ The Bengal Record* Manual 1923. A model plan of a record-room is in at .the end. In this plan the management of the records is by subjects and not by estates, as is usual. It is not, however, intended that the records should be rearranged by subjects in record-rooms in which they are now arranged by estates. 1943-10-20T00:00:00Z http://localhost:8080/handle/1200/179 General Instructions and Questionnaires for Inspection of Courts of Magistrates 1984 Chowdhury, M.Nurun Nabi; The Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh During recent visit to Upazilas, the undersigned observed that inspection of courts of magistrates was not conducted thoroughly- In most cases inspections were perfunctory in nature. In many cases, they were so hasty and hurried that there was hardly any sense in undertaking such inspections. 2. The matter was discussed in the Conference of the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners on 15-8-1984. It was agreed that circulation of a set of questionnaires will facilitate thorough inspection of courts of magistrates. Accordingly, questionnaires, contained in the Inspection Manual have been reviewed and amended, wherever necessary, for making them suitable for the purpose. 3. These questionnaires and the general instructions for inspection should be meticulously followed by District Magistrates, Additional District Magistrates and other inspecting officers. It is hoped that inspections conducted in accordance with the instructions and questionnaires will gradually improve the present state of administration of criminal justice in the country. 1984-11-01T00:00:00Z
